Now in the past, a girl's night out entailed a club and lots of alcohol followed by missing undergarments, tarantula eyelashes, and a hangover in the morning. This girls night, however, included dinner in Westwood Village and Nora Ephron's delectable play 'Love, Loss, and What I Wore' at the Geffen Playhouse Theater.
And it was absolutely adorable! As we entered the theater my sister exclaimed "holy estrogen!" as there were only 3 men (2 probably gay) in the entire playhouse.
Hysterically funny yet sentimental at times, the show uses clothing to tell intimate funny stories about different women. The play ran 95 minutes straight through and was sheer feel good entertainment. The star studded ensemble included: Meredith Baxter, Paula Christensen, Florence Henderson, Gina Torres and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Grandma got to meet Flo' Hend' after the show - she was so cute and excited!
I highly recommend doing a girls' night of your own before the show closes on August 29th. I forget Los Angeles has so many amazing resources (like theater)! Show schedule and tickets are available here.
The Geffen Playhouse courtyard was so lovely at night with the fountain and twinkle lights.
